WHAT TO WEAR TO AN ON-CAMERA AUDITION...

Do you know what to wear when you go on an on-camera audition?  No...not your all black model's attire but a simple SOLID BLUE SHIRT (no logos, no bling, nothing) with 3/4 LENGTH OR LONG SLEEVES and simple khaki, black or dark wash denim jeans...and ALWAYS FLAT shoes...not heels.

What color blue you ask....Answer: WHATEVER COLOR BLUE LOOKS GOOD ON YOU!
Blue is the only color in the world that looks good on every single person on the planet.  You just have to pick the right blue for you.

You should also wear your BLUE SHIRT when you shoot your ACTING HEADSHOT!

Do you have your resume ready for your on-camera audition?  no, then you need to get the template from the Agency....email me and ask for the resume info.....meg@icemodels.com

SPRING TRAINING

THERE ARE A LOT OF EXERCISES OUT THERE BUT HERE ARE FIVE (5) YOU SHOULD NOT DO FOR YOUR WAIST. Read Why. But read them carefully because they might work on other parts of your body. Remember everything in moderation.

Top Five Exercises You Should Not Do for a Slim Waist
These exercises will either waste your time or actually make your waist thicker.  Read Why. But read them carefully because they might work on other parts of your body. Remember everything in moderation.
1. Sit Ups
These are primarily hip exercises and are now somewhat considered a relic from a forgotten era of fitness training. Sit ups are notorious for causing back pain and do not really hits the midsection. The short story is: Sit Ups are a waste of time.
2. Crunches
The reason behind avoiding crunches is similar to Sit Ups. Many people avoid Crunches because they get lower back pain.  However, you can overcome this by using Swiss balls and stability balls. The crunch is an over-hyped exercise that provides sub-par abdominal activation. If you must crunch, the Bicycle Crunch will give you a better result.
3. Heavy Squats
You might want to do some form of squatting exercise, but what you would want to avoid is heavy powerlifting-style squats.  This is because heavy powerlifting-style squats can throw size on your hips and waist. It will be better if you replace the big squat movements with exercises like Goblet Squats with a challenging kettlebell weight or Split Squats.  this will place more emphasis on the hamstrings and glutes.
4. Sidebends
Sidebends really give the obliques a solid workout. However, because they involve using the abs and obliques to move a weight, they can add muscle down your sides. This will kill your hourglass shape and you should therefore avoid this exercise. Side Planks are a much better options for toning your obliques without bloating them.
5. Russian Twists
Besides being a bad exercise for ab training, they are actually pretty harmful. They involve both spinal flexion and rotation, which puts the spine in a compromised position. There isn’t one reason why you should be doing Russian Twists but if someone has recommended that to you, politely ignore the advice.

Go Forth and Be Slimmer!
There are more and possibly even better waist slimming exercises out there, but the top 10 listed exercises here will do the trick. Use the top 6 for targeting the core and use exercises 7-10 for cardio and general fitness.
Combining effective fat loss cardio exercises with proven core tightening movements will definitely be great in shedding belly flab while creating that tight waist you want.

TIPS FOR A BEGINNER'S RESUME

Get that acting job!  Many people new to the biz have some blank looking resumes that might not get a second glance just for that reason. Here is one way to fill in some of that white space while increasing your 'hire-ability'. Simply list your skills on your resume. Oh, you don't have any skills? Wrong. Can you drive a vehicle with a manual transmission? Can you paint a wall? Can you quickly dress a squirming child? Can you throw dice at a craps table? Can you parallel park? Have you ever worked as a CNA? Can you properly swing a bat or golf club? Can you dance? Can you mix a Martini? Can you hammer a nail without bending it? Can you properly handle a beaker and test tube? Can you wax and polish a table? Can you make a bed with hospital corners? Can you play Bridge? Poker? Black jack? Can you knit? Can you carry four dinner plates at the same time? Can you swim? Can you ride a horse? Can you drive a tractor? Can you operate a sewing machine? Can you run a weed eater? Can you walk more than two dogs at the same time? Can you arrange flowers? Can you cut a board with a hand or power saw? Can you use a furniture dolly? Can you operate a log splitter? Can you operate a 35mm camera or DSLR? The list is endless. Why. People want to see realistic action in the movies and can spot a fake in two seconds and that's why genuine skills are always in demand. Caution: Don't claim it if you can't do it unless you want the black ball dropped squarely on your head.

SPRING TRAINING - CRUNCHES

PLEASE NOTE: START WITH LOW REPS AND BUILD SLOWLY.

Lie on work-out bench or picnic table bench.  Cushion picnic table bench with a towel.
Step 1: Lie close to the upper end of the bench. Reach behind you and grab the bench next to your ears. Squeeze your elbows together and keep your chin up and abs tight.

Step 2: Breathe slowly and rhythmically as you pull your knees up slowly to your elbows through a count of 10 seconds.

Step 3: Hold and squeeze for 2 seconds at the maximum tension point (where the elbows touch the knees).

Step 4: Return to the starting point through a count of 10 seconds, never letting your feet touch the ground.

Step 5: Repeat three times without resting.
As you get stronger increase to 5 times without resting and you can add ankle weights for more resistance. i.e. negatives.

DON'T HAVE A BENCH...USE THE FLOOR BUT CUSHION IT WITH YOGA MAT OR SEVERAL TOWELS...BEACH TOWELS ARE GREAT FOR THIS.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT!

Congratulations to ICE model and IMTA NYC 2013 alum, Shateia Ellis.  She recently signed on with HOP models in Atlanta, GA and booked a client "look book" photo shoot.  We look forward to seeing those great shots.
